EastEnders legend John Altman wants to bring back Nasty Nick from the dead… in Emmerdale.
The actor bowed out as Nick Cotton in 2015 in the BBC One soap’s 30th anniversary episode.
The telly badboy died in his mother Dot Cotton’s arms from a heroin overdose bringing an end to his reign of terror against the residents of Walford.
But actor John still thinks the character has legs.
He wants to see Nick return from the dead and pitch up in rival ITV soap Emmerdale.
John, 68, said: “They’ve never done a crossover in soaps, you know the British public would accept it.
“You can change characters with completely different actors.

“I’m sure the public would accept it if Nick Cotton appeared up in Emmerdale one day, out of the swirling mist, all tramped up, because he’d been drifting around England as a homeless vagrant.
“Can you imagine that?
“There’s an idea for the writers up there in Emmerdale.
“The trouble is that I don’t know if the BBC would allow it, I don’t know. My imagination is running riot.”
John also issued a come and get me plea to Coronation Street bosses to hand him a nice guy role on the soap.

He’s got his sights set on a switch to the cobbles after becoming gripped with the Geoff Metcalfe domestic abuse storyline.
John said: “I could go on there as someone completely different, with a Northern accent.
“I could be an accountant from Leeds. It would be good.”
John – who has just released a new pop single Hallucinating You and is releasing an album Never Too Late To Rock and Roll on November 20 – said his friend Ian Bartholomew, who’s been playing Geoff in Corrie, is a brilliant baddie.

He said: “During lockdown I surfed the channels to see what’s going on and I thought, oh there’s Ian.
“I thought what’s he up to and I started watching him abuse poor Yasmeen and I thought, oh god. It’s awful.
“I was doing what people do to me, shouting at the screen to him: ‘You b*d! How can you let him do that to you?’ I was sitting there getting quite involved.
“I got hooked.
“So after watching it once and seeing him do that, now I want to see his comeuppance. That’s why I’m watching Corrie, to watch the demise of Geoff.”
