EastEnders set 'suffers break-in as police investigate major security breach'

EastEnders bosses suffered a concerning security breach after trespassers managed to break into the iconic EastEnders set.

According to reports, three “urban explorers” made their way into the famous streets at 5am by using a simple blanket trick to disable high-tech security cameras.

The mystery trio managed to gain entry to the Queen Vic pub before filming themselves inside the Minute Mart and cafe on the show.

The EastEnders set recently underwent an epic revamp at Elstree Studios at Borehamwood.

A video of the incident was posted to YouTube on June 26.

In the clip, one of the men told the camera: “Right guys it is like 5am and we have come for a little look around the old EastEnders set.

“See you in there and hopefully we will get a chase.”

At the time of publication, the video had been viewed 929 times.

During the clip, the men could be seen taking photos in Albert Square.

As they entered the boozer, the cameraman joked: “Guys we are going for a pint… Get Out My pub.”

The camera then turned and they walked into the dressing room full of cast clothing.

A source told The Sun: “They realised that the set would be largely empty because of lockdown so they thought they’d try their luck.

“They had the freedom of the place, filming inside the shop, pub and wandering around the square.

“But the soap’s security team clocked them and led them out of the site not long after.”

According to insiders, police were called, however, the lads made a break for it before they arrived.

The BBC said: “We do not comment on security matters.”
