EastEnders star Shaun Williamson has opened up about his recent weight loss, shedding an impressive 10lb.
The 54-year-old rose to fame playing the loveable Barry Evans on EastEnders, leaving in 2004 after a decade in Albert Square.
Speaking to The Daily Mirror, Shaun revealed he dropped the excess weight in a bid to prepare for his role on the new TV series Mr Winner.
Revealing his fitness secrets, he said: “I lost 10lb – by drinking gin instead of beer.
“But I also power walk. Three miles to Tesco’s then three miles back holding the shopping. It took 10lb off over six weeks.”

The former soap star also confessed that his weight can come in handy when it comes to landing acting gigs.
He explained: “You have a type. If I go down too much I’m among the 12st actors.
“Why try to be better looking and thinner like guys my age who have looked after themselves and are known as romantic leading men?”

Shaun’s EastEnders exit has gone down in history, as he was killed off when his character was pushed off a cliff by his wife.
Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) angrily revealed their whole marriage had been a sham, before shoving her sobbing husband over the cliff edge.
In Shaun’s newest acting gig, he plays the wannabe father-in-law to Leslie Winner (Spencer Jones), taking part in a few comedic stunts and gags.

EastEnders fans can expect something different from the series, however, as he warned: “There are no deaths, no drug-taking, no-one is being pushed off a cliff.”
Mister Winner airs tonight at 10pm on BBC Two.
