EastEnders is set to return to our screens from its summer hiatus next week after two months off air.
Fans of the BBC One soap have been desperate to find out what the residents of Albert Square have been up to since they were last seen in July.
Actress Louisa Lytton, who plays businesswoman Ruby Allen, has confirmed that she would like her character and Martin Fowler to become Walford’s new “power couple”.
It has previously been revealed that Ruby and fruit and veg seller Martin locked down together during coronavirus quarantine and their budding romance has progressed significantly.
Louise is a huge supporter of Ruby and Martin’s relationship and has hinted that it’s the type of relationship her alter-ego has been looking for.

The soap star told Digital Spy and other press: “For Ruby, Martin is the sort of person she has always wanted.
“She’s come from a terrible background and been on her own for many years, and when I came back to the show, you could tell that was the type of man she was searching for.
“So, at the moment, it’s all fun and obviously Stacey has not been around, and that problem hasn’t happened yet, but obviously she comes back.”
She added: “That’s going to cause a lot of issues and it will be a test of if they are meant to be together and just how intimate the relationship is.

“I really like it and hope that it goes forward. I think it could really work and they could become a new power couple.”
Ruby will come face to face with her best friend Stacey (Lacey Turner) – who happens to be Martin’s estranged wife – when she returns to the Square next month.
Lacey Turner will make her return from maternity leave as the culmination of a multi-week mystery storyline this autumn about Stacey’s whereabouts — and she’s in for a huge surprise.

EastEnders executive producer Jon Sen explained this week: “There are some fantastic Ruby vs Stacey scenes – and we can’t wait to find out what Stacey does when she discovers what has been going on between Martin and Ruby.
“As a return that is a big moment.”
“Lacey is amazing and part of EastEnders history and we have really missed her energy in the Slaters.
“So, the first two weeks we tease a mystery – where is Stacey?”
EastEnders will air new episodes from Monday, September 7 on BBC One at 8.05pm
