Elton John's fans fear for music superstar after 'concerning' live performance

Elton John has sparked fears amongst his fans after performing as part of One World: #TogetherAtHome.

The British music superstar joined countless celebs to take part in the fundraiser to help raise as much money to fight Covid-19 as possible.

Elton, 73, gave a rendition of his ionic hit I’m Still Standing, however, despite being pleased to see the star, many supporters were left fearing he is unwell.

When it came to singing the chorus of the track, Elton appeared unable to pronounce the “S” and “T” sounds.

As the live performance went out, Twitter was awash with viewers baffled by the situation.

In fact, many fans were so concerned that after Elton posted to his official Twitter account thanking viewers for their support many fans replied expressing their concern.

One fan replied: “Love me some Elton but something was off about this performance… yelling and sounded like he has a speech impediment.”

Another speculated: “Know he’d had pneumonia not long ago and honestly think that’s why he didn’t sound quite the same.”

Meanwhile, a third continued: “I rarely tweet, but I’m legitimately concerned about #EltonJohn after his #ImStillStanding performance during the #OneWorldTogetherAtHome concert.

“Seen him so many times and he sounded off…”

A fourth wrote: “Why does Elton John sound tongue tied? Not being snarky…genuinely concerned.”

“How come he couldn’t pronounce standing?” a fifth questioned.

Elton is currently in the middle of a mammoth fair well tour.

Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour spans three continents and is set for a staggering 272 dates.

The trek wrapped up the Oceania leg in March and is due to kick off again in May in Columbia.

However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe it is unknown how many gigs will be axed.

Previously speaking to Daily Star Online about the tour, Elton’s husband David Furnish said: “He wanted to do a long farewell tour as he says there are a lot of people he wants to say goodbye to.

“He just doesn’t want to travel around the world any more… he really finds it hard on him, it takes him away from him family.

“Our children are getting older, they aren’t little babies anymore, they are little people and they have needs and wishes and it’s hard to do that from the other side of the world.”

David continued: “Elton has been doing it for 50 years now, he won’t ever stop performing but he won’t go from place to place to place.

“I don’t think he should stop totally either as he is an amazing live performer but you won’t be coming to a town near most people ever again.”

Admitting a residency isn’t off the cards once the global trek is over, the film producer continued: “Ys, he would possibly do a residency again.

“He loves the idea of doing a few nights in London or something like that but he doesn’t want to travel.

“I think when you do two years and 300 shows I think the immediate thing after that is just to take some time off and reflect and reset.

“He will be 74 going on 75 when he ends the tour and you have to reanalyse all these things but I know unequivocally he will defiantly not do and more touring – he just doesn’t want to.”
