Emmerdale fans were gobsmacked this evening as soap villain DI Malone (Mark Womack) was shot dead by Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).
The corrupt copper was hit over the head during Monday’s edition of the ITV soap when Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) caught him trying to force her stepdaughter Dawn to kill herself.
Harriet and Dawn were convinced that the police officer was dead after Harriet attacked her secret lover but he quickly got back to his feet.
Malone jumped up behind Harriet and warned that the police would “never get here in time”.
Grabbing a candlestick, he launched to attack Harriet when Dawn grabbed the gun he’d left on the floor and fired three bullets at him, and he collapsed onto the floor.
ITV viewers rushed to their keyboards to discuss the tense shoot-out, with some eagled-eyed fans picking up one major blunder.
Taking to Twitter, one fan said: “Did the neighbours not hear the gun shots?”
Another added: “I’m guessing no one heard the gun shots.”
A third said: “The most pathetic gun shots in tv history. Sounded more like a bloody kids cap gun.”
DI Malone had tried to push addict Dawn into killing herself by overdosing on heroin earlier this week.
Dawn had infuriated Malone after filing a complaint against him at the police station following her discovery of his affair with her dad Will Taylor’s (Dean Andrews) partner Harriet.
But when things seemed hopeless for Dawn, Harriet smashed a lamp over his head, seemingly killing him in the process.
Unsurprisingly, that wasn’t the end of the drama this evening as the concerned pair frantically thought about what they should do.
Harriet later wrapped up Malone’s lifeless body up and demanded Dawn to help her carry his corpse to a car.
The pair managed to eventually get the body into the boot of the vehicle but fans were confused that they had managed to do so without attracting attention in the middle of broad daylight.
One tweeted: “Yea that’s what people do drag a dead body about in the middle of the day.”
Anther questioned: “Moving a body in the middle of the day?! clearly they’ve not seen Pretty Little Liars.”
A third wrote: “They’re moving a body in broad daylight. Their bravery is unmatched! If you have a dead body you have to move, wait until nighttime. #Emmerdale.”
While a fourth said: “They’re going to move the body in the middle of the day?”
Emmerdale continues on ITV on Friday at 7.30pm
