Fern Britton suffers sleepless nights after confessing to missing Phil Vickery

Former This Morning host Fern Britton admitted to suffering from sleep issues, not long after she confessed to missing her ex husband Phil Vickery.

The 62-year-old and the TV chef, decided to call time on their relationship earlier this year, ending twenty years of marriage.

Struggling to get to sleep, she took to her Twitter account just after 1am, to tell fans how she hadn’t yet managed to nod off.

The TV favourite penned: “No sleep happening here. How about you?”

Only recently Fern opened up about her feelings following her marriage breakdown, suggesting that she’d found life particularly tough since separating from Phil.

Speaking to Weekend magazine, she spoke candidly about the her relationship with Phil: “I know I’ve hurt people but people have hurt me too.

“We had a wonderful time. We were the best of friends. And I miss that friendship.

“But there comes a point when the children are substantially off your hands and you look at each other and wonder where you’re going to go from here.”

Not wanting to give into the sleep demons, the mum-of-four later took to her page to share a little trick that she had up her sleeve.

It appears the blonde likes to indulge in a shot of something strong to aid with her sleeping woes.

Following her earlier Tweet, she wrote: “Right. Tot of whiskey and snoring book might do it. Good luck Duvet friends xxxxx”.

It appears the nifty alcoholic beverage may have worked a treat, before returning to her podium at 8am to tell her social media followers “Morning”.

Fern also told the same publication how it had taken her a long time to call time on her marriage but was positive about the future.

She said: “I took a long time to make my decision yet I have faith that its going to be alright. Now I’m looking forward to the last third of my adult life.

“An uncertain future doesn’t panic me. I feel liberated. I’m turning into a recluse and I’m loving it.”

True to her word, the Ready Steady cook presenter didn’t waste any time at all and is already unleashing another book, due for launch on June 11, called Daughters Of Cornwall.
