GMB Doctor Sarah Jarvis shuts down Adil Ray's facemask advice in awkward moment

Good Morning Britain presenter Adil Ray was swiftly corrected on today’s show when he tried to offer viewers some advice about wearing facemasks.

However, resident doc Sarah Jarvis was quick to shut down his advice, urging viewers against listening to the recommendation.

It all kicked off when Adil claimed the public could iron their facemasks instead of washing them after use, to save on time and excessive washing.

Branding the theory as “amazing,” the 46-year-old ITV star alleged the heat from the iron could kill any germs present in the mask, ensuring it was safe to use again.

Unfortunately, as soon as she heard the advice, Dr Sarah shut him down, saying: “I really wouldn’t recommend that.”

His mouth falling open, Adil looked a little surprised by the doc’s shut down but listened intently to the correction.

She went on to explain that certain Covid particles could still be present in the mask, threatening the health of others when wearing the mask in public.

Dr Sarah Jarvis also advised viewers to wear a three-layer mask, saying: “What we do recommend is two layers, preferably three.”

Confused, Adil replied: “Are you saying two masks?”

However, Sarah cleared things up, explaining that the mask ought to have at least two layers of fabric, helping to prevent the spread of germs.

She chimed: “It ideally should fit as close as possible around your nose.”

Before adding: “I think we need to remember the most important thing is not to wear it under your nose.”

Dr Sarah appeared on the show last week to replace Dr Hilary Jones, who has taken several weeks off as part of his annual leave.

Throughout the height of the pandemic, Dr Hilary was vital in offering support and guidance to viewers, urging them to wear a mask and stay home for the greater good.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
