GMB’s Susanna Reid and Edwina Currie got in a ferocious row on today’s show due to confusion over social distancing.
The Good Morning Britain host became enraged when Edwina suggested Susanna hadn’t read the government’s 50-page document.
Susanna fired back at Edwina’s accusation and said: “I have read it!”
Edwina quizzed: “Well what is it about social distancing that you don’t understand?”

Susan replied: “So I can be on the common with lots of people I don’t know?”
Edwina responded: “You’ve got it!”
Susanna curtly replied: “That’s total common sense.”
She added: “So as long as I go home and wash my hands everything is absolutely fine.”
Having his co-host’s back, Piers then expressed to Edwina that government guidelines are confusing and could she explain exactly what the government mean with their social distancing guidelines.
Edwina replied: “I’m trying to explain but you and Susanna keep interrupting me.”
Piers then jokingly labelled Edwina a “crafty old devil”.
Clearly still reeling from Edwina’s comments, later Susanna made a dig about Edwina as they caught up with Lorraine to see what was coming up on her show today.
In a sarcastic tone, Susanna said to Lorraine: “Well everything will be fine as long as we wash our hands and stay at home.”
She then raised her eyebrows in an unimpressed fashion to hammer home her point.
Susanna’s row with former politician Edwina certainly didn’t go unnoticed by viewers at home.
One social networker remarked: “Well Edwina Currie is certainly on one today.”
While another continued: “Edwina Currie just got absolutely owned on GMB because she cant answer a straight question, and even the police officer on the show said it demonstrated the government’s lack of clarity. What are the public supposed to think?”
A third added: “Edwina Currie has confirmed what utter nonsense the government’s policy toward #coronavirus and #lockdownuk is.”
And a fourth remarked: “Go on @piersmorgan & @susannareid100 showing #Edwina that Bojos rules are far from common sense, they’re a pile of confusion & contradictions. Thank goodness I live in #Scotland where we have a leader who’s clear, concise & CARES #Scotlandslockdown #GMB.”
Elsewhere on the show, another guest interview ended in chaos as the camera cut off.
Piers was interviewing MP Tobias Ellwood for further clarification on the government’s coronavirus 50-page document on nation-wide coronavirus measures.
In typical Piers style, Tobias didn’t get off without a “grilling”.
However Piers, who lamented the fact Health Secretary Matt Hancock wouldn’t come on the show today, had his grilling caught short as Tobias’ camera was interrupted.
Lucky escape Tobias?
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
