Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan clashed with Dr Hilary Jones once again as they battled over using face masks during the coronavirus pandemic, turning things heated on the show.
Piers kicked things off by asking why the public weren’t told to wear the masks from the very beginning of the pandemic.
He said: “We keep hearing this, Hilary left me stop you there sorry, recent polls show 90 percent of the British public have been very obedient with lockdown.
“This idea that we can’t obey rules, what we don’t know is how to obey wishy-washy rules that don’t seem to be one thing or another.”
Susanna chipped in: “Common sense.”
Piers continued: “This country didn’t think quarantining people at airports was necessary for two months and has now decided that after everybody else, it is.
“This country said there was no need to wear masks and now we’re looking like we may be told to wear masks and so on and so on.
“We were told we didn’t need to be doing testing in the community in the middle of March and now that is deemed to be the number one priority.
“Is there a single thing Hilary that our experts have told us what not appropriate two months ago, which we are now not doing?”
Dr Hilary replied: ““I think if there was strong scientific evidence that wearing a mask at all times was required then I think the government would say, ‘Let’s do it’.”
Piers quickly cut him off as he shouted: “Here’s my evidence, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, Qatar.
“It seems amazing that everywhere they are doing it a lot, they have a lot less problem than we do. Anyway, we’ll come back to this.”
Dr Hilary looked exasperated after trying to carry on with what he said, only to be cut off by Piers once again.
Meanwhile, the GMB host shared another update about Kate Garraway and her husband Derek, who is critically ill with coronavirus.
He said to Iain Duncan Smith, who had shared his best wishes and thoughts with the GMB team about Kate: “You can.
“We’re trying not to talk about it much, as Kate is going through living hell so many other people
“Her husband Derek has been in serious condition for many weeks, we can all just hope and pray he comes through it
“It has been very difficult for her and her family
“We miss her on the show, we’re staying in touch with her, we’re sending her and the kids our love and wishing Derek all the best.”
Susanna chipped in: “We leave it to Kate, every week she is doing an update after clap for carers and then Ben does an update,” as they thanked Duncan Smith.
