Susanna Reid has made a savage dig at the BBC after they “replaced” Newsnight host Emily Maitlis after her remarks about Dominic Cummings.
The 49-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter was raging after the BBC ruled that journalist Emily “did not meet our standards of due impartiality” during her introduction to Tuesday’s programme.
Susanna joined Piers Morgan in defending the newsreader, slamming the BBC on her Twitter page after Emily was absent from her usual programme last night.
The ITV star said in a tweet to her 746.7k followers: “Not ok to do this to @maitlis.”

Her GMB co-host Piers also took to his social media to call out the BBC, saying they “chucked its best journalist”.
Katie Razzell who filled in for Emily on last night’s show claimed the veteran host was not “replaced”.
She tweeted: “Just for the record, Emily @maitlishas not been asked by the BBC to take tonight off – and if I thought she had been, I certainly wouldn’t have agreed to present the show @BBCNewsnight.”
The BBC made a statement about the Cummings row on Wednesday.
It read: “The BBC must uphold the highest standards of due impartiality in its news output.

“We’ve reviewed the entirety of last night’s Newsnight, including the opening section, and while we believe the programme contained fair, reasonable and rigorous journalism, we feel that we should have done more to make clear the introduction was a summary of the questions we would examine, with all the accompanying evidence, in the rest of the programme.
“As it was, we believe the introduction we broadcast did not meet our standards of due impartiality.
“Our staff have been reminded of the guidelines.”

Morgan was left fuming by their post. Above their message, he wrote: “You’ve got to be kidding me??? BBC chucking one of its best journalists @maitlis under the bus for TELLING THE TRUTH?
“Utterly disgraceful.”
During Tuesday’s episode of Newsnight, Emily had said: “Dominic Cummings broke the rules. The country can see that and it’s shocked the government cannot.
“The longer ministers and the prime minister insist he worked within them, the more likely the angry response to the scandal is likely to be … He made those who struggled to keep to the rules feel like fools, and has allowed many more to assume they can flout them.”
She continued saying: “The prime minister knows all this and has chosen to ignore it.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
