Holby City viewers were thrilled to see John Barrowman join the BBC soap tonight.
The 53-year-old Scottish-American actor made his debut as Drew Nicholson-Heath, a renowned global recruiter always on the lookout for talented surgeons to poach.
However, fans were divided over his Scottish accent on the medical drama.
One said: “Barrowman’s accent is all over the place – one minute Scottish and then blends into an American accent.”
While another wrote: “I’m confused by his ever changing accent.”
“That accent on Barrowman is just weird. Is it Scottish? Is it American? Who knows,” added a third.
A fourth penned: “John Barrowman’s Scottish accent genuinely makes me want to scream lmao #HolbyCity please stop this.”

Despite some fans being puzzled by his accent, many fans praised the Dancing On Ice judge’s performance and were thrilled to see him on the programme.
One typed: “Loving John Barrowman in #HolbyCity he’s just fab-ul-ous.”
Another added: “Watching @BBCHolbyCity with the gorgeous and fabulous @JohnBarrowman perfect touch to one of my favourite shows.”

“Can John Barrowman be a permanent character he’d fit in so well right now,” gushed another viewer.
Drew’s appearance at the Darwin Ward prompted certain doctors to try and impress him.
Evil doctor Cameron Dunn sabotaged his colleague and friend Nicky McKendrick’s work so that he’d come out on top once again.

Barrowman spoke about his stint on the show earlier this year, calling his role in the “iconic” BBC drama “fabulous”.
He said: “I was welcomed with open arms by the cast and crew and felt like part of the Holby City family right away.
“My character Drew brings a new flavour to the show and I look forward to his return soon. Surgery will never be the same again.”
Holby City airs weekdays at 8pm on BBC One.
