Hollyoaks teases Theresa's return and Lisa's murder fallout in explosive trailer

Hollyoaks has finally dropped its 25th birthday trailer and the bombshell anniversary is set to be explosive.

Channel 4 fans were left with their jaws on the floor as they discovered what bosses had planned for the milestone celebration.

As well as bringing back some of Hollyoaks’ biggest characters, the McQueen family are set to face an eerie blackmail battle.

In the teaser trailer, an Anabelle-Inspired doll reads out: ““Seven deadly sins, seven deadly sinners, seven McQueens”, as eerie music plays.

“I’m coming you get you!” she warns.

Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) can be seen reading out the message as she discovers the horrifying doll in a box with “7” written on it.

Jorgie Porter is back as Theresa McQueen for the Hollyoaks 25th anniversary celebrations

She wonders desperately who is doing this as another voice suggests it is blackmail.

Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) also returns to the soap to celebrate the anniversary, as does Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson).

Juliet Nightingale’s (Niamh Blackshaw) descent into a county line drugs ring continues as she is offered her own patch to sell on, leading to her changing her attitude and appearance drastically.

Liberty Savage decides she must keep her baby in what will be devastating scenes for Sienna Blake and Brody Hudson

She begins to ignore Peri (Ruby O’Donnell), who she had shared a kiss with, much to Peri’s dismay, and threatens Mandy Richardson’s (Sarah Jayne Dunn) young daughter Ella (Erin Palmer) after forcing her to join the group.

Elsewhere Liberty Savage’s (Jessamy Stoddart) turmoil following her surrogacy reaches breaking point and she finally tells Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward) that she can no longer go through the adoption process.

Instead, she decides she must keep her baby in what will be devastating scenes for the broken-hearted couple. Will Sienna and Brody ever get their happy ever after?

Meanwhile, Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) is pressured to divorce Tony Hutchinson (Nick Packard), but Tony has his own issues to deal with as he is revisited by a ghost from the past.

In a shocking twist, Kurt Benson (Jeremy Edwards) returns from the dead following his fatal jet-ski accident last year.

But Tony has imagined seeing Kurt before – Is he real this time, and if he is, how did he fake his own death?

And he is not the only character returning from the dead, it seems, as fans are convinced they heard the voice of Nico Blake, who was killed by her own mother in self-defence two years ago, speaking to Liberty.

The fallout from Lisa Loveday’s (Rachel Adejei’s) horrific murder takes a dark turn as Mitchell Derereux (Imran Adams), who Toby Faroe (Bobby Gordon) was trying to kill when he killed Lisa, discovers Lisa’s body.

Mitchell is sickened and he may even become another victim of Toby’s as his brother warns him he was not supposed to find out about Lisa’s death.

The trailer ends on a harrowing cliffhanger as Brody can be seen running into the road and being hit at a car going full speed in what could be a deadly crash.

Hollyoaks continues on Channel 4 on Wednesday at 6.30pm followed by a first look episode on E4 at 7pm
