Idris Elba confirms he has tested positive for coronavirus as he self-isolates

Idris Elba has taken to social media to confirm he’s been tested positive for coronavirus.

The actor, 47, told his fans: “This morning I tested positive for COVID-19.

“I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.

” Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing

“No panic.”

The worldwide outbreak of coronavirus has sickened nearly 170000 people and left more than 6,500 dead wth thousands of cases confirmed daily.

Luther star Idris joins a growing list of notable names in entertainment who have contracted the virus.

In a video posed alongside his social media statement, Idris told his fans: “This morning I got some test results back for coronavirus and it tested positive and it sucks.

“I’m doing ok. Sabrina has been tested and she’s doing ok. I didn’t have any symptoms.

I got tested because I realised I was exposed to someone who was also tested positive, I found out last Friday they had tested positive.

“I quarantined myself and got tested immediately and got the test results back today.

He continued: “This is serious. No the time is really think about social distancing and washing your hands.

“There are people out there not showing symptoms and that can easily spread.

“We’ve told our families and colleagues. Transparency is really important.

“We live in a divided world, we can all feel it.”

“I just wanted to share my news with you guys. Stay positive and don’t freak out.”

Hollywood spouses Tom Hanks and Ria Wilson have also tested positive for the illness as well as Ukraine-born actress and model Olga Kurylenko.

Universal Music chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge was hospitalised for treatment of COVID-19 over the weekend.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, has also tested positive for coronavirus.
