Isolation Stories made its debut on ITV earlier this week and it follows four fictional families as they deal with life lockdown.
Viewers have already seen the emotional stories of Mel (Sheridan Smith), Ron and Russell (Robert and Tom Glenister), and Mike and Rochelle (Darren Boyd and Angela Griffin).
Tonight was the turn of actor Eddie Marsan and his real life sons to depict the challenges of a struggling single father.
Episode four saw a grandad (David Threlfall) try to bring his broken family together by stopping off outside his grandkids window on his way to the grocery store.
But his son-in-law (Eddie Marsan) wasn’t too happy as he tried to come to terms with his wife Karen leaving him.
ITV viewers were left in floods of tears during tonight’s episode as the ITV drama came to an emotional end with Karen finally being able to see her children before behind a glass window.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Absolutely loved Isolation Stories tonight was the best yet!”
Another added: “I am in tears again. Well done Isolation Stories. Take note BAFTA.”
A third said: “I am in tears. Isolation Stories was amazing tonight.”
A fourth posted: “Isolation Stories were all fantastic. Covered in 15 minutes what some series take eight weeks of an hour a piece to cover
In the first episode, Sheridan Smith took on the role of a heavily pregnant woman and followed the harsh realities of isolating alone whilst expecting a baby.
Episode two followed the struggles of Russell (Tom Glenister) trying to look after his father (Robert Glenister), who was tested positive for Covid-19 and last night focused on the difficulties that a hypochondriac called Mike (Darren Boyd) has had to face over the past six weeks.
The series was filmed observing the strict rules of lockdown with actors and their families filming the scenes themselves, watched remotely by the directors.
Each of the directors watched footage via their laptops and gave advice to the actors and their family members about camera positioning, scene composition and lighting.
Eddie’s real life sons Blu and Bodhi both took part in tonight’s Isolation Stories alongside him.
The actor, 51, and wife Janine juggled home-schooling their four children while capturing his scenes for the drama series.
Social distancing restrictions saw Janine step behind the camera for the first time to help capture her husband’s performance while the kids joined in the acting.
Before his role on Isolation Stories, Eddie has appeared in a long list of films and TV shows.
These include Mission: Impossible III, Hancock, Sherlock Holmes, War Horse, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Happy Go Lucky.
