With Glastonbury a no-go this year due to Covid-19, Daily Star Online has unearthed some of the most memorable moments from Britain’s longest-running and best-loved festival.
It was the beef no one saw coming, but Jay-Z and Oasis locked horns, and their feud turned into one of the festival’s biggest entrances to date, and one of Glastonbury’s most monumental moments.
Never one to shy away from a public spat, outspoken Noel Gallagher thought Jay-Z headlining Glasto in 2008 was the “wrong” choice to perform at the Somerset-based extravaganza.
Speaking to BBC news, the Mancunian musician thought it was not a good idea to deviate from the festival’s usual headliners, mainly bands.

He said: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
“If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance.
“Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go ‘Kylie Minogue?’ I don’t know about it. But I’m not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It’s wrong.”
And Noel’s remarks didn’t go unnoticed by the American rapper as he decided to address the cutting remarks during his headline slot on June 28.
Making his appearance to the crowd, and silencing the critics; notably Noel, Jay-Z walked onto the stage with Oasis’ Wonderwall as the opening track of his show on the Pyramid Stage.
Jay-Z whipped the audience into a frenzy as he sang along to the Brit-pop classic and played some electric guitar while festival-goers sang along.

Michael Eavis, who runs the festival on his dairy farm along with daughter Emily, admitted they had “stuck their necks out on this one”.
Jay-Z continued to mock Noel for the next few months as he dissed the guitarist in August of the same year at his Madison Square Garden concert.
During the show, Jay-Z rapped: “That bloke from Oasis said I couldn’t play guitar. Somebody should have told him I’m a f**kin’ rock star.”
However, months later Noel downplayed his comments in an interview with NME, saying: “I said what I said, and it was wrong, or it was taken wrong.
“I’ll have a beer with him one day and it will be fine.”
