Joe Wicks says he's bought his mum a house amid huge workout video success

Joe Wicks has thanked his fans for their support and says they helped him buy his mum a house in a recent Instagram story.

In the emotional clip, The Body Coach says his mum always lived in a council house, and buying her a place of her own felt “amazing”.

The 33-year-old says: “I’m eternally grateful for every single person who followed me and bought one of them books for themselves or family members.

“That changed my life, I never in a million years predicted we’d sell anywhere near that many books.

“They said if we sell 70,000 books in the first year we’ve had a success, and we sold like one million books.”

The fitness coach is now estimated to be worth £15million after becoming a household name.

“It allowed me to do the one thing I think most boys dream of doing when they earn a bit of dough – buy your mum a house,” he says.

Explaining his background, he added: “My mum’s always lived in a council house, we’ve never had mortgages, it wasn’t on the radar for us, so when I could take that money I earned from that book and say ‘mum, I’m buying your house. It’s yours,’ that was an amazing moment for me.

“That’s something she’s always dreamed of.

“She’s wanted to own something, so she lives there and she’s so happy.”

In a similarly candid chat, Wicks recently revealed that his dad’s heroin addiction made him become interested in fitness because he was determined not to go down the same path.

He has recently come out of hospital after suffering from an infected hand injury and his wife Rosie Jones has been helping out with his morning live-streamed “PE lessons”.
