Johnny Depp 'passed out' on floor in court snaps – but star says he was sleeping

New photos shown to the High Court in London today (Wednesday) have given a glimpse of Johnny Depp ‘s private life.

In one photo shown to the court, the Hollywood actor could be seen allegedly passed out on the floor, while other photos showed a table with two glasses of whisky and drug paraphernalia, including four lines of what is alleged to be cocaine.

Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard reportedly took the photo of Johnny on the floor in July 2013 to try and “shock” him into getting off drugs and alcohol, the court was told.

While being questioned about the photo, Johnny said: “I appear to be sleeping. Passed out, I don’t know.”

Sasha Wass QC for News Group Newspapers said: “Well there’s a bed right there. Why are you sleeping on the floor? You’re fully clothed, your shoes are not on, and your head does not seem to be in a very comfortable position.”

Depp responded: “It’s hard to tell, but there’s something there which looks like a cushion, which my head is resting on. It looks like my head is on a cushion.”

When pushed further, he said he was “not sure” what the object was.

In other photos, a glass table can be seen with two glasses of whisky on – one half empty, some rolling tobacco, a tube, credit card, four lines of what is allegedly cocaine and a small box with “property of JD” embossed on it, as well as a skull and cross bones.

Depp said the box “probably” contained a stash of drugs.

There is also a newspaper next to a vase of flowers, and a Keith Richards CD on top of a brown bag.

The High Court heard that at the time, Depp was supposed to be filming a documentary about the Rolling Stones star when he started “snorting more and more lines of cocaine”.

Yesterday, Depp spoke of his drug use, saying he started using drugs “at a very young age” when he took one of his mother’s “nerve pills”.

He also admitted to using cocaine, ecstasy, LSD “when I was younger”, mushrooms and cannabis and denied having ever taken ketamine.

The trial is in relation to a newspaper column published in the Sun which referenced allegations of violence from Depp towards Amber Heard.

Depp denies all of the allegations.
