Kate Garraway was back on Good Morning Britain today to discuss husband Derek Draper’s heartbreaking coronavirus battle.
Derek, 52, has been battling Covid-19 for ten weeks as is currently in intensive care.
Kate, 53, joined her fellow GMB hosts Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh on the ITV show today to talk about his condition.
She said her husband is now Covid-free during the interview – but is still “very sick” and is not sure he will recover.
As Kate join Ben and Ranvir, she said: It’s lovely to hear you voices, this is such a weird situation.”
She also warned the pair there “would be tears” as she opened up about Derek’s condition.
Kate said: “He’s still with us, it’s a battle. We’re so grateful he’s holding on, we’re praying and hoping.”
She then added: “The fight over the virus has been won, he’s still here. But it’s done extraordinary damage to his body, we don’t know if he can recover.”
Kate then became emotional as she spoke more about his battle.
She said: “He had never been to hospital before. He never really gets ill.

“He just said to Darcy and Billie that they were the best children he could ask for, be good for mum, look after her and that was it he was in an ambulance.”
After a few days he was begging Kate to ask doctors to put him into a coma as he was finding it hard to breathe.
Medics called Kate when she was at home and explained that due to her husband becoming more sick over night he would need to be in a medically induced coma.

Revealing their last phone call, Kate explained: “He said I love you, I’m sorry I have to leave you.
“He said you saved my life, he thought I had pushed for the coma but then he said it wasn’t just that it was the marriage and the kids.”
Derek has been in hospital for ten weeks now.
Trying to remain positive, Kate said: “He is still with us. He has fought the battle.
“I hate the idea of a battle but it is a battle.
“The fact he is still here and is holding on.”
Explaining how she didn’t think he would still be alive, Kate continued: “I am still grateful he is here and I can pray but he is very very sick.
“As time goes on there seems to be a flicker of hope and they are fighting that.
“The positives, he is now Covid free – he is testing negative.
“The fight against Covid has won but it has wrecked havoc on his body and we don’t know if he can recover from that.”
