Television presenter Kate Garraway has thanked her fans for their positive messages as her husband Derek Draper continues his health battle after contracting coronavirus six months ago.
While he is now free of the virus and has been pulled out of his medically-induced coma, he has regained the lowest form of consciousness, meaning he is unable to talk or walk.
The 53-year-old Good Morning Britain star returned to work at Smooth FM on Monday for the first time since her husband was rushed to hospital in March.
With Derek, 53, slowly recovering from his illness, Kate returned to work with a smile on her face wearing a salmon pink suit and a striped blouse.
Upon her return to the Smooth Fm studio, Kate thanked listeners for their ongoing support.

She said: “Thank you all for your positive messages and keeping me and Derek in your prayers. I think it works, you know.
“It’s so nice not just to hear your support for me personally but how much you love the show.”
While former lobbyist and political advisor Derek no longer has Covid-19, he still remains seriously ill.
He is slowly recovering from the extensive damage the virus has done to his body.

Kate and Derek celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary last week, but Kate was unable to see her hubby on their special day.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Kate told hosts Adil Ray and Susanna Reid: “”It’s actually Derek and I’s wedding anniversary today, unbelievably.
“15 years today – Richard and Hilary were there on the day, I think. But yeah, what an extraordinary thing.
“I won’t be able to see him today.

“I kind of hoped he would but it hasn’t worked out that way for the visits. But maybe it would be a bit strange anyway.”
She added: “So yeah, it’s a tough day but he’s still here.
“There’s not a huge amount that’s changed.”
Kate revealed during Friday’s instalment of GMB that former Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been secretly helping her with Derek’s health battle.

During an interview on the show, Mr Brown sent his best wishes to Kate.
However, Kate also thanked him back.
She said: “You mentioned Derek and one of the things I’ve learnt, and I want to say to you publicly, if you’re always very private about the personal good things you do and very public about the issues.”
“Personally, you’ve been very kind to me and probably one of the most helpful practically, actually, apart from all of the incredible teams that have been working on [Derek] from the NHS.
“But you’ve been amazingly helpful from that.”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
