Viewers tuning into the BBC ‘s new docuseries were left heartbroken when an unexpected character made a sudden appearance on its documentary, The Rise of the Murdoch Dynasty.
The episode was all about documenting what went down and showing footage from Tony Blair’s 1997 election victory celebration.
It was aired last Sunday and showed Kate Garraway ‘s husband Derek Draper when he was a political advisor to the Labour party.
In the clip, a younger Derek, 52, can be seen standing next to John Prescott, Neil Kinnock and Peter Mandleson.
The footage showed the group as they celebrated at London’s Royal Festival when Tony Blair was announced as the new prime minister.

Derek, who is currently recovering from Covid-19 in hospital, can be seen wiggling his body and dancing away as the group of men in suits cheered.
The main focus of the documentary explored how Rupert Murdoch, 89, became one of the most powerful figures in the media industry.
But viewers were more fascinated by Derek’s appearance, with many rushing to Twitter to say now “nostalgic” it was to see him.
One fan tweeted: “Sad nostalgia in many ways: did anyone else spot the young Derek Draper standing next to Neil Kinnock in the footage of 1997 General Election night, in the BBC Murdoch doc?

“They were waiting for the new PM, swaying to ‘Things Can Only Get Better’. If only they can – come on Derek.”
Another fan wrote a sweet message following his recent battle with coronavirus.
They tweeted: “Yes, it’s quite a clip. Best wishes to him, his wife and family.”
It comes after Kate spilled on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain that she might of been able to go and visit him that day.

Derek, a former political lobbyist, was admitted into hospital in March after contracting the deadly virus and was later put into an induced coma which lasted a heartbreaking 13 weeks.
He has regained a low state of consciousness, but Kate previously admitted doctors warned her there’s a long road of recovering ahead.
Sat alongside co-host Ben Shephard, Kate explained she’s going to dash to the hospital following the programme broadcast.
She shared: “I might be able to go and visit Derek today!”
