Katie Hopkins has finally been silenced on Twitter after the social media platform decided to ban her for life this week but it’s not the only downfall she has suffered over the years.
The 44-year-old former LBC host made a living from sharing her controversial opinions online for the last decade, often ending with her going viral.
Her removal from the site, losing an account that had over a million followers, comes after a series of her recent tweets caused backlash and were deemed “hateful conduct” by Twitter.
A spokesperson for the social media giant said about Katie’s ban: “Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us – abuse and hateful conduct have no place on our service and we will continue to take action when our rules are broken.
“In this case, the account has been permanently suspended for violations of our Hateful Conduct policy.”
But what else has added to Katie’s downfall?

Katie first captured people’s attention when she appeared on The Apprentice in 2007, desperately seeking approval from Sir Alan Sugar.
Due to her villain-like manner on the show, Katie came fourth and following her stint on the BBC show became an opinionated far-right media presence with extreme views.
She was hired by The Sun as a columnist in 2013, and often spoke out against immigrants and Muslim figures, amongst other race and class issues.
But her job at the publication ended in 2015 when she received major backlash for referring to migrants travelling over the Mediterranean to find refuge as “cockroaches.”
Hopkins wrote: “Make no mistake, these migrants are like cockroaches.
“They might look a bit ‘Bob Geldof’s Ethiopia circa 1984’, but they are built to survive a nuclear bomb. They are survivors.”
She then moved to MailOnline in 2015 and signed a two-year contract but once again it came to an end after she made a massive mistake.

It came after she inaccurately accused two Muslim men of being banned from flying to the US due to links to terrorist organisation Al-Qaeda.
The article was swiftly pulled from the website and the Daily Mail Group was forced to apologise, pay damages and cover the legal costs of the action against them.
Hopkins also went on to apologise via Twitter – at 2am in the morning.
In 2015, she also got her own chat show on TLC entitled If Katie Hopkins Ruled the World, however, it was cancelled after one series due to low ratings.
In 2017 Katie’s time at the MailOnline came to an end after he contract was not renewed.
But Katie’s controversy didn’t end there. Between April 2016 and May 2017, the mother-of-two went on to share her vile remarks over the radio waves on station LBC with her own Sunday morning talk show.

Again it came down to her being booted when she made a comment that took it too far when she sparked fury over a tweet she wrote following the Manchester Arena bombings which killed 22 people, including children.
She wrote on Twitter in May 2017: “22 dead – number rising. Schofield. Don’t you even dare. Do not be a part of the problem. We need a final solution Machester.”
She then added: “Typo / wording amended”.
However, Hopkins went on to delete the offensive post after people reported the tweet to the Metropolitan Police and she was fired by LBC.
The station announced: “LBC and Katie Hopkins have agreed that Katie will leave LBC effective immediately.”
In 2017 Katie was hit by a legal bill so big she had to sell her beloved home.

It came after she lost a legal battle with chef and writer Jack Monroe over a tweet Hopkins had written back in 2015.
She tweeted at Jack: “Scrawled on any memorials recently? Vandalised the memory of those who fought for your freedom. Grandma got any more medals?”
Jack soon responded: “I have NEVER ‘scrawled on a memorial’. Brother in the RAF. Dad was a Para in the Falklands. You’re a piece of s***.”
Katie soon went on to admit that there had been a case of mistaken identity, but Jack wanted more than that admission and gave Katie the chance to save her skin.
Jack tweeted: “Dear @KTHopkins, public apology + £5K to migrant rescue and I won’t sue. It’ll be cheaper for you and v satisfying for me.”
But Katie decided to refuse to give Jack what she wanted, and Katie was sued by Jack for libel in 2016.
It was ruled that Katie pay £24,000 in damages, along with £107,000 for Jack’s legal costs.
As a result, the media personality was forced to sell her Exeter home for £930,000 and apply for an individual voluntary arrangement to swerve bankruptcy.
