Katie Price's terminally ill mum struggling to breathe as lung disease worsens

Katie Price has revealed to her fans that her mum Amy is struggling to breathe and is living in Spain in the hope that it helps her lung condition.

The mum-of-five speaks to her mum in her new YouTube video, which was filmed before lockdown, about her breathing and how it’s getting worse.

The model says: “She’s getting a bit worse with her breathing so it’s better for her to be out here than it is in England.

“At Christmas I was watching you, we all were, and you were sitting there like this [takes deep breaths].”

Katie’s daughter Princess, 13, gives Amy a hug, before the grandmother says: “I probably don’t notice it because I do it all the time.”

Katie has said her mum is struggling to breathe

Former Loose Women star Katie, 42, says: “My dad’s been over and said, ‘Your mum’s not good. She’s having really good days, but then she’s having really bad days.'”

Amy has idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and was diagnosed in 2017.

It causes scarring to occur on the lungs, which makes it more difficult for sufferers to breathe.

There is currently no cure for the disease.

Katie has been very open and honest about her mum’s struggles, taking her on Loose Women to talk about it.

Amy explained that she could have just two or three years to live because of her illness.

Katie spoke this year of how difficult it has been to isolate away from Amy because of the strict lockdown rules.

She told new! magazine: “She’s struggling. She’s slowed down so much with her breathing and it’s not nice to see.

Katie has been open about her mum’s lung disease

“It’s really sad, but it’s life and we’ve just got to enjoy what’s left. But it’s hard at the moment because I can only see her through the window.”

She previously explained how she was worried that her mum could get coronavirus as she “would literally die”.

And the businesswoman even offered to donate one of her lungs to try and keep her mum going, but Amy declined as she didn’t want to put Katie at risk.

She told The Sunday Mirror: “I said no, you’re not going to do that. You’ve got to think if, by any chance, it went wrong, who’s going to look after your kids?”

Amy added: “Of course, I was so touched at her offer. But Kate is my child, not the other way around. I have to protect her. So there will be no lung transplant from Kate. I can’t allow it.”
