Knots Landing actor Kevin Dobson confirmed dead after 'medical; complications'

Kevin Dobson has died, reports The United Veterans Council of San Joaquin County.

The actor who was best known for his roles in Knots Landing and Kojak was 77 at the time of his death.

It’s been confirmed that the late star passed away on September 6, following “medical complications”.

Kevin served as a chairman of the San Joaquin County group.

In a social media announcement, they said: “The United Veterans Council regrets to inform you that our former Chairman and Army Veteran Kevin Dobson passed away this evening Sunday, September 6th, 2020 due to medical complications.”

They added: “Our condolences to his family and May he Rest In Peace. More information will be posted about his funeral services once available.”

Kevin, born March 18, 1943 in Jackson Heights, New York stumbled into acting following years working on the Long Island Railroad in New York.

His first break into the acting industry came in the 1970s noir film, Klute, alongside legendary Jane Fonda before moving into television.

Kevin later went on to star alongside Barbara Streisand and Gene Hackman in the 1981 hit film, All Night Long.

The East Coaster went on to bag five Soap Opera Digest Awards for his role on CBS’ Knots Landing.

In his earlier life, Kevin served in the US Army and went on to serve as chairman of the National Salute to Hospitalised Veterans.

Since his death, fans have taken to social media to share their condolences.

One fan tweeted: “Aww… RIP Kevin Dobson, my favourite character in Kojak! CROCKER Sad as they’re all gone now… Love that show!”

While a second added: “Rest in peace to Kevin Dobson who played Mack in #knotslanding one half of my favourite 80s power soap couple.”

A third tweeted: “I enjoyed watching Kevin Dobson for years on TV’s ‘Knots Landing TV Series’, George. He was a great actor!”

He is survived by wife Susan, the pair married in 1968 and their three children.
