Comic Les Dennis spawned an outpouring of hilarious support after a Twitter prankster spread a false story about him.
The former Corrie actor blasted a tweet from a user named Rick who claimed to have met the star in person.
Rick wrote: “Met Les Dennis today in the Brewers Fayre. What a disappointment!!!!
“Refused to have a picture with me and swore at my 2 year old son. #Disappointed.”
But the former Family Fortunes host, 66, was quick to call him out.

He hit back: “No you didn’t. I am at home and have been all day. Don’t lie.”
And hundreds of fans joined in the exchange with their own fake tales.
One wag joked: “Les kicked my baby, then in a frenzy ate my scampi in a basket whilst making growling noises and lewd hand gestures! “
Another called Sammy tweeted: “I met Les Dennis in a cave in Colwyn Bay.
“He kicked my dog up the a**e and threatened if I ever used that cave again he’d eat my family #disappointed.”
A third wrote: “I met Les Dennis today. He was meant to tell my fortune in his beach hut as I crossed his palm with silver.

“Instead he just picked out different 5ps & went ‘This isn’t a flattering picture of the Queen’ & threw them one by one at my nose. Disgusting behaviour.”
High street optician chain Specsavers even piled in by tweeting: “One of you needs to give us a call.”
The Twitter user who posted the false sighting, in Warrington, Cheshire, initially remained defiant, adding: “This is easily my finest work. This has rattled so many people it’s fantastic.”
But he later backed down, saying: “I would like to formally apologise to Les Dennis, looking back it was a clear case of mistaken identity.”
Les then thanked him for his apology. He called it a “dignified response”.
