Liam Gallagher donates Wonderwall MTV award to a charitable auction

Liam Gallagher has donated his MTV award to a Manchester auction for a good cause.

The 47-year-old, who won the accolade with former band Oasis for their track Wonderwall at the 1996 Awards, decided to part with the gong so it could ne used in a charity auction.

A number of Manchester celebs have donated an item or a one-off experience to Eat Well MCR, a hospitality initiative will help provide hot meals to those in need in the city.

The gong, which is still up for grabs, has been hailed as a piece of “musical history”.

The description reads: “Win this incredible piece of pop-culture donated to the Eat Well MCR fundraiser by Manchester rock ‘n’ roll icon Liam Gallagher.

“Liam has kindly donated his MTV best song 1996 award for Wonderwall to help raise money for Eat Well MCR.

“This is the chance of a lifetime to own a piece of musical history! We can’t thank you enough for this incredible donation Liam!”

The award has already racked up £40,000 in bids, and is still available on the Eat Well MCR site.

Meanwhile, other times include a signed Manchester City shirt and boot from City and England superstar Raheem Sterling, online Summer Solstice session with Bez from Happy Mondays’, and a pint with Elbow frontman Guy Garvey.

Liam’s do-good pledge comes days after he sent an olive branch to estranged brother Noel Gallagher on his 53rd Birthday.

While the pair haven’t seen eye-to-eye since Noel decided to quit Oasis in 2009, the Wall of Glass hitmaker looked past their previous differences and posted a gushing birthday message on Twitter.

He wrote: “Happy birthday r’kid have a good one love you long time.”
