Lily Allen has shocked fans after revealing the lavish way she plans to celebrate her debut single Smile hitting one hundred million streams on Spotify.
The Hard Out Here songstress took to Instagram to share a GIF of herself sitting in a cafe stirring a cup of tea from the 2006 single’s music video.
She captioned the throwback shot: “Me waiting for Spotify to be invented so in 14 years I can celebrate ONE HUNDRED MILLION STREAMS of “SMILE” and buy myself a cheese sandwich with the royalties. Well done me.”
Commenting on the post, one fan wrote: “$600,000 is an expensive cheese sandwich.”
Lily cheekily replied: “In U.K. ‘cheese sandwich’ is rhyming slang for Alligator Birkin.”

Luxury Birkin bags can set owners back tens of thousands of pounds – with some going at auction for over £200,000.
Rumour has it that Hermés have a waiting list of six years for customers to get their hands on one of their pricey bags.
Lily’s reference to only buying a cheese sandwich is thought to be a diss at the low rate of return artists get from having their music streamed, in comparison to the amount the label can pocket.
A single stream is thought to generate £0.004, meaning Lily’s achievement could have created around £400,000 in royalties.

However, a large slice may never reach the chart-topper.
Seemingly picking up on the diss, Katy Perry replied: “Looks like that’s some piping hot tea you’re stirring there.”
Meanwhile, Lily replied to one fan’s comment, who asked: “Why do labels allow music on streaming sites if it doesn’t pay? Do the labels get a larger chunk of the pie?”

Lily answered: “They are the right holders yah.”
In 2018 Daily Star Online revealed how Lily took a swipe at her record label during an announcement for the Mercury Prize awards.
Chatting at the Langham Hotel in central London after landing a place on the 2018 Mercury Prize Shortlist for her No Shame album, Lily said: “There wasn’t a big spend behind this album, it is what it is, it feels natural and organic.
“This isn’t the music industry, this is a part of it.
“Ask record labels, they don’t give a f*** I am here. This part has got lost.”
In a swipe at her record label Parlophone, Lily laughed: “I want support from my label [if I win] and a video budget.”
