Lily Allen's heartbreak as daughter, 8, panics she will be in coronavirus lockdown forever

Lily Allen has spoken of her daughter’s fear coronavirus will take over the UK and leave us all in self-isolation forever.

The chart-topper says daughter Ethel, eight, heartbreakingly called her from a sleepover on Saturday night with ‘panic in her voice’ that she wouldn’t be able to return home if emergency measures are put in place by the British government.

Ethel is Lily’s oldest of two daughters she had with ex-husband Sam Cooper.

Speaking on Saturday night just hours after the United States added the UK to their no flights list, Lily said: “I went to Cheltenham Races on Friday so I am a bad person, but I am just doing what Boris Johnson had told us to do.

“I thought it was herd immunity or something?

“My poor daughter Ethel is at a sleepover and she just called me at 10.30pm.

“She said ‘mummy, if they put us into lockdown will I have to stay at her house forever?’

“It is very sad to hear the panic in her voice. It’s sad.”

Admitting her children initially found the coronavirus surge exciting before it reached UK shores, Lily continued: “They were really excited and every time I would go and pick them up from school they would be like ‘do you know anyone who has got it?’

“They wanted to find out more. Now they are scared.

“They go to the store and there is no food left.

“It is a legitimate concern for them, well, for all of us but and we don’t really have an explanation for how long it is going to be or when is it going to be over.”

As well as the medical implications, Lily says she is finding the lack of control of the situation hard to handle.

“I hate the not being in control, we have become so goal driven,” she continued in a now delated Instagram live chat.

“I have the past few years anyway. They [goals] had became my survival method.

“Whether it is an album release or the beginning of a tour or the end of a tour.

“You know what it is you are working towards.

“With this I don’t know what I’m doing. I have no idea. The whole thing sucks.”
