Lisa Appleton Sex Doctor: 'Lockdown webcam sex putting me off the real thing'

Lisa Appleton is back to deliver some sage sex advice to Daily Star Online readers with another one of her sex doctor columns.

Last week, Lisa was helping someone who ended up engaging it in a boozy threesome with her housemates amid the coronavirus lockdown.

Taken aback by how much she enjoyed it, anonymous wanted to float the idea about doing it again to her housemates.

Lisa said that she needed to play it cool and have a few drinks to ease it into conversation, without making it a big thing.

This week, Lisa is helping someone who’s become so obsessed with webcam sex during the lockdown that she’s worried she’ll be put off the real thing, once social distancing rules are lifted.

‘Scared lockdown webcam sex is putting me off the real thing’

Dear Lisa,

I’ve become a fan of dating apps over the last few years after coming out of a really serious relationship.

The relationship didn’t end badly, but as we got together so young and were with each other so long, I felt like I almost lost my own identity a bit.

Therefore, dating apps have given me the opportunity to meet up with a spectrum of different people and have fun dating, although I didn’t feel comfortable taking it to the next level in terms of sex, as felt a bit intimidating as I’d only been with one person before. But due to social distancing my dating plans have been scuppered.

However, one guy I was talking to on an app during lockdown suggested webcam sex – it felt completely out of my comfort zone at first, but I ended up going for it, as thought it may be a good way to ease myself back into sex.

However, what started as cam sex with one guy has let to cam sex with over 20 men and I just can’t stop. I’m having so much fun but I think fun has turned into addiction.

While I know I’m doing nothing wrong, I’m worried that once we come out of lockdown, I’m going to be completely put off doing the real thing.

And as much as I’m enjoying the single life I do want the fairytale of settling down and having kids with someone one day. Do you think I need to kick the cam sex habit now or is it just a bit of harmless fun?

Thanks,

Anonymous

Lisa says:

Being in lockdown, especially on your own, can be very difficult because you’ve got to keep your spirits up, you’ve got to keep your fun factor and your excitement going – and it’s very hard to do when you’re watching the TV or the news at the moment.

So, things like sex or flirting or banter are really good for your brain and your body and your wellbeing.

And this is why you’re probably enjoying it.

You were with one person for years and now that’s over, and now you’re having fun on these apps, and you’re having fun and you’re enjoying it, and that’s good.

And lots of girls and lads are doing it. And with the webcam sex – I hope you’re charging them – make some bucks!

And I don’t know whether it’s public or private on an app I’d look at doing it as a business.

The fact you’re enjoying it and it’s keeping you going in lockdown. When lockdown lifts, you’ll probably ease out of it again, and you’ll be socialising and you might meet someone.

If you do meet someone, you can explain how it felt doing cam sex during lockdown and that it makes you feel good.

That person will always accept you for who you are – and if you’re ready to start a family and have children, that’s a big commitment, and I’m sure that day will come.

However, you think that you’re addicted to webcam sex, but it’s probably just that you’ve done it and you’ve enjoyed it and it makes you feel good so that’s doing you no harm.

So keep it up, why not?! And think about doing it as a business if you’re not already. And if you do meet someone, I’m sure everything will be amazing.

I wish you all the best and keep your spirits up.
