Little and Large Syd Little sobs as he lays Eddie Large to rest at tiny funeral

Syd Little was seen being comforted as he said his final goodbyes to best friend and comedy partner Eddie Large at his intimate funeral.

The 77-year-old left the safety of lockdown to honour Eddie, real name Eddie McGinnis, at his funeral, which had to be small due to rules put in place amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Eddie tragically lost his life to Covid-19 earlier this month after suffering heart failure while battling the disease.

He died alone in hospital without any of his loved ones around him due to the strict government guidelines surrounding coronavirus.

The comedian was pictured sobbing by the car containing Eddie’s coffin as fans turned up to pay their respects.

The small funeral took place today (Friday, April 24) as the casket was driven down Portishead High Street fans lined up to say their goodbyes.

Eddie has been laid to rest at South Bristol Crematorium.

Eddie’s family gave their permission for photographers to attend and capture their goodbyes.

The funnyman’s polished wooden coffin was decorated with fresh blue and white flowers, which were picked for Eddie’s beloved Manchester City football club.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and strict guidelines in place for the amount of people allowed to attend a funeral, Syd was initially told he may not be allowed to be there.

But Eddie’s wife of 36 years, Patsy McGinnis insisted he be there, she said: “Of course Syd had to give the eulogy and send Eddie off on his final journey.

“It’s their final appearance together.”

She added: “Because of the current restrictions, the funeral has to be a small one.

“But we are inviting those who wish to come and wave Eddie off as he leaves the town he loved so much.

“Obviously there are the social distancing guidelines to adhere to and people need to be very conscious of those.

“But we just wanted to give people the chance to say their final goodbye to Eddie if they wished.”
