Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock has opened up about the personal battles she has faced since becoming a member of the chart-topping group.
Despite being one of the biggest girl bands, alongside the likes of the Spice Girls and Girls Aloud, it appears that with success comes insecurities and scrutiny from the public.
Leigh-Anne, 28, has now opened up and revealed she felt “overlooked” in the quartet due to her race.
The Break Up Song songstress has opened up about feeling “invisible” during some of the darker moments of her life after first becoming famous.
During a chat with TV icons Richard and Judy on their Channel 4 show Keep Reading and Carry On, Leigh-Anne admitted she turned to a book to distract her from her negative thoughts on being the “darkest member of the group”.

Leigh-Anne, Richard and Judy were chatting about Rene Eddo-Lodge’s Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race.
The novel is a non-fiction piece with Edo dissecting the problems surrounding race, racism and white privilege in Britain.
Leigh-Anne believes that the piece of literature helped her through dark times as she was able to relate to it.

She revealed: “The book inspired me because in the past where I have felt invisible, overlooked, especially being the darkest member of the band that I’m in, Little Mix.
“I think I was going through some things and I was struggling a little bit and not really understanding why I felt the way I did.
“Then I read this book and it really, really helped me.”

It’s believed that Leigh-Anne is said to be in talks with BBC Three to front a documentary surrounding racism.
She also recently revealed that her plans to marry footballer boyfriend Andre Gray are on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The pair have been dating since 2016 and hoped to tie the knot in a private ceremony this summer.
Speaking to Daily Star, Leigh said: “The wedding is probably not going to happen now because we can’t go anywhere.
“He’s probably not going to [want to] do it in the house.
“So it looks like my dream is officially over.”
