Lord Sugar has come under fire after he shared a conspiracy theory which alleged the coronavirus was man-made and started in China.
The 73-year-old businessman and Apprentice star’s post was dubbed “dangerous and irresponsible” by angry fans after he shared the message on his official Twitter account to his 5.3m followers.
Lord Sugar shared a print screen of Dr Honjo’s controversial bizarre conspiracy theory, claiming that Covid-19 is “not natural”.
In the post, it claims the virus – which has killed over 200,000 people worldwide – “did not come from bats” and was “made by China”.
The post read: “Based on all my knowledge and research to date, I can say with 100% confidence that corona is not natural.
“It did not come from bats. China made it.
“If what I say today turns out to be false now, or even after I die, the Government can withdraw my Nobel Prize.
“But China is lying and the truth one day will be revealed to all.”
After Lord Sugar shared the now-deleted post, he was immediately inundated with abuse from trolls, with many telling him that he’s “fired”.
Fans, MPs and celebs alike rushed to slam Lord Sugar for the post.
Historian Greg Jenner told him: “Please delete this. It’s fake news and very dangerous.”
Former MP George Galloway wrote: “You do know this is from a fake account don’t you Lord Plonker? How terrifyingly irresponsible to have you in the British parliament.”

However, seemingly seeing the error in his ways, Lord Sugar deleted the post and later confessed to it being “fake news”.
He tweeted: “I just passed it on. I didn’t write it.”
Later he added: “Looks like, to quote Donald Trump, that was fake news…”
