Lorraine Kelly has revealed she has been forced to take off her wedding ring amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 60-year-old presenter has continued to host Good Morning Britain with the Lorraine throughout the global crisis.
Eagled-eyed ITV viewers have noticed that Lorraine has removed her wedding ring – but the ITV breakfast star has quickly explained the reason behind her decision.
Concerned fans rushed to their keyboards to ask the Scottish presenter why she is no longer wearing the ring given to her by husband Steve Smith.
In response to a comment about having chapped due to constant hand-washing, Lorraine added she had been experiencing dry hands.
She tweeted to her 611,000 followers: “Aye I hear you. Anyone else had to take off their wedding ring due to sore hands??
“Obviously we need to keep thoroughly washing them as often as possible and I’m actually using up that Xmas pressie hand cream I got given.”
The move didn’t go unnoticed by ITV viewers, who previously took to Twitter to question the star.

One asked: “Lorraine where’s your wedding ring?”
Lorraine replied to the comment, saying: “Washing my hands so much I had to take rings off!”
It appears that many of Lorraine’s followers agreed with her decision.
One penned: “You are right as it’s impossible to get hands really hygienic with rings on!”

Another added: “Haven’t worn jewellery since lockdown – gathers germs and gets ruined with hand washing. I thought everyone was doing that.”
A third said: “I did that too start of lockdown, longest I’ve not worn my rings ever.”
Lorraine has been married to Steve for nearly 30 years after the couple tied the knot in 1992.
Speaking to Express.co.uk last year, Lorraine dished the dirt on how she and Steve have kept their marriage alive over the last three decades.

The ITV star said: “I think we make time to talk. We like each other, and he makes me laugh. We give each other space.
“We have our own interests as well as enjoying doing things together. That keeps us interested and interesting. We respect each other.”
Lorraine has previously revealed she thinks laughter is an important factor in a relationship.
The television personality and husband Steve are the parents of an adult daughter, Rosie.
Good Morning Britain with Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
