Lorraine Kelly to be replaced by Andi Peters in 'exciting' ITV shake-up

Television presenter Andi Peters will host Lorraine Kelly ‘s ITV chat show over the summer.

Lorraine, 60, will take a break from hosting her daytime show in the next few weeks and Andi is the first man in over a decade to host the programme.

The last man to host the show was Michael Ball for a few instalments back in 2010.

Andi, who currently presents the competition slots on the show, told Daily Mirror: “I love Lorraine, I’ve known her for ten years, I’m on her show every day with competitions and it’s great to be part of that family. So, sitting in for her is an honour, Lorraine is an institution.

“As much as I adore always giving away money on the competition slots, I’m looking forward to chatting to people and having a whole hour to actually relax into it.

“I’m a bit of a chatterbox. I’ll enjoy having guests on, who want to have a bit of a chinwag and also to be able to do some serious stuff.

“I am happy and jolly, and that will always be there, but obviously I do have an opinion. The good thing about ITV Daytime is that we are allowed to have opinions.”

He added: “We are not censored in that way, we are allowed to bring them to the table. I can’t wait to see how guests react to that. I’m genuinely really excited.”

Loose Women host Christine Lampard will also be filling in for the Scottish presenter during the summer months.

Telly star Christine added: “I’m really looking forward to being back at Lorraine.

“The team is always so lovely and welcoming and now more than ever, it’ll be great to catch up with people and find out how they are getting on.”

Andi will be in the hot seat for two weeks from August 10 to 21 and Christine will be taking the helm from Monday, July 20 to August 7, and then again from August 24 to September 1.

ITV star Lorraine said: “I’m so delighted Christine and Andi will be standing in for me.

“They are both lovely people and total professionals.

“Actually, I’ve been trying to get Andi to present my show for ages but he’s always been away filming in exotic locations.

“I’m glad we’ve managed to pin him down.”

Lorraine editor Victoria Kennedy said: “I’ve lost count of the messages we’ve received from viewers saying how much Lorraine has helped them through lockdown – she has been live every single week day, buoying the nation’s spirits and offering reassurance at such an unsettling time.

“While she takes a short break we will continue to bring the same mix of entertainment, inspiring stories and health advice.

“Christine and Andi are both much-loved and familiar faces on the show and we look forward to spending our summer with them as they each take the helm until Lorraine’s return.”

Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV
