Lorraine turns awkward as Andi Peters mocked over begging for Insta followers

Lorraine Kelly ‘s guest Dara Ó Briain took a swipe at Andi Peters on Friday’s show, after the ITV star begged viewers to follow him on Instagram.

While presenting a competition segment, the 50-year-old unveiled a counter, which showed his impressive Instagram follower count.

Flashing his Instagram handle, Andi begged Lorraine fans to tap “follow,” hoping to see the follower count rise live on the show.

Moments later, Mock of the Week presenter Dara appeared on the show, and took a cheeky swipe at Andi’s bid for more followers.

The Irish TV personality appeared on the show to plug his new children’s book, titled Is Anybody Out There? which digs into the world of extraterrestrial life.

Gesturing off-screen, he said: “I was just away unfollowing Andi Peters on Instagram.

“I wanted to see if the number went down.”

Lorraine exclaimed that Andi wouldn’t be able to “cope,” as the camera panned quickly to Andi Peters, who was filming the show from his garage.

Waving his arms about, he urged Dara against hitting unfollow, distressed to think of his follower count going down.

Andi’s Instagram follower count, which currently rests at a whopping 106,000, got off to a rocky start, as he failed to invite any new users to tap “follow”.

He said: “This is a counter that shows how many Instagram followers I’ve got.

“Let’s see if anyone follows me live while we’re watching.”

Unfortunately, the number stayed still, as it appeared zero viewers had decided to follow the ITV star, despite his plea.

Andi snapped: “Stupid thing.”

Just as he added, “Right, this is rubbish,” the counter started to go up, as Andi leapt up in the air in delight.

Thrilled, Andi exclaimed: “It’s moving! Look, people are following.

“It’s gone viral.”

Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV
