Love Island Cara rushed to hospital in early labour amid pregnancy complication

Love Island winner Cara De La Hoyde was rushed to hospital over the weekend after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

The star, married to her Love Island co-star Nathan Massey, told her Instagram followers that she was in hospital on a “wild Saturday”.

And it has been confirmed that she would be induced early due to the safety of herself and her unborn baby.

Her representative told The Sun: “Due to the pre-eclampsia diagnosis, Cara has been admitted to hospital to be induced early for the safety of her and her baby. Her husband Nathan is with her in hospital at this time.”

Cara shared a selfie on Instagram with a face mask on while laying on a hospital bed, with the caption: “Wonder how long we’re going to be here?”

Her fans sent the reality starlet concerned messages, while some others were excited at the prospect of a new baby.

One said: “Hope you and baby are both alright, take care, lots of love to you and your family.”

A second asked: “Is it happening?”

While another said: “Wishing you and baby girl a safe labour and delivery! Excited to see the new addition.”

And a fourth told her: “Hope you and baby girl are ok.”

Pre-eclampsia can affect up to 6% of pregnancies, and it’s thought it occurs due to a problem with the placenta.

Signs can include high blood pressure, known as hypertension, and protein in urine, known as proteinuria.

Cara and Nathan are already parents to their two-year-old son Freddie-George, while the second baby will be a little girl.

The two of them met on Love Island in 2016 and were together from day one, eventually winning the entire series.

They did, however, split up in 2017 with Cara announcing she was expecting their first child not long afterwards.

After blaming the “pressures of coming off a TV show” for their split, they eventually managed to work things out and got back together.

They had reunited by the time Freddie was born and Nathan says their little boy brought them even closer.

The telly couple got married in a lavish ceremony in June 2019 after Nathan proposed to Cara where they met – in the old Love Island villa.
