Mick Fleetwood has paid tribute to Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green, following Saturday’s news that he’d passed away.
Mick, 73, described Peter, who died at the age of 73, as my “dearest friend” and said the two of them “trail blazed one hell of a musical road for so many to enjoy”.
Fleetwood said: “For me, and every past and present member of Fleetwood Mac, losing Peter Green is monumental.
“Peter was the man who started the band Fleetwood Mac along with myself, John McVie, and Jeremy Spencer.”

“No one has ever stepped into the ranks of Fleetwood Mac without a reverence for Peter Green and his talent, and to the fact that music should shine bright and always be delivered with uncompromising passion.”
He added: “Peter, I will miss you, but rest easy your music lives on.
“I thank you for asking me to be your drummer all those years ago.
“We did good, and trail blazed one hell of a musical road for so many to enjoy.
“God speed to you, my dearest friend……. Love Mick Fleetwood.”
Green’s death was confirmed by his solicitors in a statement shared Saturday.
The statement from Swan Tuton solicitors read: “It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep.
“A further statement will be provided in the coming days”.
Peter Green, who co-founded Fleetwood Mac in London in 1967, left the band, which is regarded as one of the best music groups of all time, decades ago.
Green penned a number of Fleetwood Mac songs, which appeared in the singles charts.
Such tracks included: Albatross, Black Magic Woman, Oh Well, The Green Malishi (Two-Pronged Crown) and Man of the World.
He starred in the beloved music group alongside Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie, Christine McVie, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer.
