Noel Gallagher admits cocaine binge resulted in hospitalisation

Noel Gallagher has opened up about his previous drug use, admitting he turned his back on cocaine after he ended up in hospital.

The 52-year-old discussed the Class A substance and how he was hospitalised in the US after taking it.

Speaking on Matt Morgan’s Funny How? podcast, he recalled: “It was from 1995 ’til 1998. That was my crazy years.

“I did have to check into hospital once. I was in Detroit as a matter of fact and imagine having the psychosis and having to have to go to hospital.

“They don’t understand a word you are saying because of your accent and you are like ‘I think I am on my way out’.”

He added: “I had a few brutal panic attacks, which is why I quit.”

It’s not the first time the High Flying Birds frontman has recounted taking cocaine at the height of Oasis’ fame in the nineties.

The veteran musician confessed he penned several songs for the Britpop band while high – but not all of the tracks were chart-topping hits.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, he said: “I’ve written songs on coke and it’s been complete gibberish and it has been f***ing amazing. Supersonic, for instance.

“Then I’ve written s*** like a lot of Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants where I had nothing to say.

“And I was literally trying to make the words rhyme because we had a tour booked and we had to go on tour. But that’s part of it.”

Noel quit cocaine following his hospital dash and told the Metro he now finds the whole scene “boring”.

Still up for a night on the town, the father-of-three revealed he heads home once cocaine is present.

“You just know that when the coke comes out the night is going to take a s*** turn.”
