Noel Gallagher has opened up about his brother Liam Gallagher’ s musical talents and the first time he heard him sing.
Despite the siblings not seeing eye-to-eye for well over a decade, the High Flying Birds frontman was full of praise for his younger family member, and said he hasn’t heard his brother sing until he was performing with band Rain.
Speaking on Matt Morgan’s Funny How? podcast, the veteran musician opened up about the early days of Oasis and discussed writing songs suitable for Liam’s voice.
When asked if he had heard Liam sing on the radio at home, Noel responded: “No. Not at all. No. The first time I ever heard him sing was on stage in the f***ing Boardwalk and I was like, ‘Oh he sounds like Ian Brown’.

“But then you know, the songs lent themselves to that, do you know what I mean? And then they asked me to join and [I thought] I’ll take it from here thank you very much!”
Touching up on Oasis’ back catalogue of hits, Matt questioned Noel as to whether Liam was an accomplished singer from the off.
The singer replied: “As the songs got better, he got better.
“When I started writing the songs, I was writing songs and quickly sussed out the entire key structure was too low for Liam,” Noel explained.
“So when you hear the early stuff the songs are not very good and he’s not very good, but as I’m starting to write better songs for him, we all got better at the same time.”

Noel’s comments come just days after Liam claimed he was paid £25,000 for Oasis’ legendary Knebworth concerts.
The Brit Pop band played to 250,000 across the two nights – and their Knebworth record was held until 2003 when Robbie Williams played three nights at the same venue.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: “25 grand I got for 2 nights at Knebworth. Ignition I’m coming for you.”
