Olly Murs was rushed to hospital with suspected sepsis after the singer underwent an agonising knee operation.
The 35-year-old The Voice UK star , has revealed for the first time how he was forced to seek urgent medical attention three months post-surgery.
He explained that the metal plate inserted into his leg became infected, and the painful ordeal resulted in him being hospitalised.
Olly shared pictures of his injured leg in June last year on his Instagram page, but he never spoke about the terrifying ordeal that followed.
Today, he spoke about the scary incident for the first time, telling his fans in an Instagram live that it “got nasty”.

Olly told his 3.2m followers: “When I had the operation my left leg had to be straightened and they put a plate in.
“After three months the plate got infected so then I had to get rushed back into hospital, they thought it was sepsis.
“They had to open me up again in case the infection spread. So it got nasty.”

Last year Olly shared the news of his knee surgery by posting photos of his stay in hospital and gruesome bandaged leg.
He returned to The Voice UK after making a full recovery, and today Olly explained how important it was that his leg healed.
The X Factor star explained: “It was so important for me to get my leg done because there wouldn’t be shows.

“Obviously with this knee I’m not being able to perform on stage to my best ability for my fans. I needed to give it a year. I need to do rehab.”
Olly’s now self-isolating amid the coronavirus lockdown.
He’s living in lockdown with his bodybuilding girlfriend, Amelia Tank.
