Spanish opera singer Placido Domingo has coronavirus and is in self-isolation.
The singer, 79, announced he has tested positive for the virus in a statement on Facebook.
He wrote in the online post: “I feel it is my moral duty to announce to you that I have tested positive for COVID19, the Coronavirus.
“My family and I are all in self isolation for as long as it is deemed medically necessary. Currently we are all in good health but I experienced fever and cough symptoms therefore decided to get tested and the result came back positive.
“I beg everyone to be extremely careful, follow the basic guidelines by washing your hand frequently, keeping at least a six feet distance from others, doing everything you can to stop the virus from spreading and please above all stay home if you can!

“Together we can fight this virus and stop the current worldwide crisis, so we can hopefully return to our normal daily liVes very soon.
“Please follow your local government’s guidelines and regulations for staying safe and protecting not just yourselves but our entire community.”
The opera star’s revelation of having coronavirus comes after he made a public apology to a string of women who accused him of sexually harassing them.

He said he takes “full responsibility” for the “pain” he caused his victims.
Placido originally denied allegations made by several women from the classical music industry accused him of inappropriate behaviour.
He then said he has “analysed” the complaints and “grown up with the experience” since the first allegations came out last August.

He made a statement to Spanish news agency Europa Press in February saying he understands why women who accused him felt they could not speak out about it as “as they worried how that could affect their career”.
Placido was quoted saying: “Even though it was not (my) intention, never ever anybody should feel this way.”
