Paddy McGuinness fans in hysterics as he shares cheeky Dominic Cummings song

Paddy McGuinness sent Twitter into meltdown when he shared his thoughts about Dominic Cummings’ alleged lockdown breaches through the power of song.

Rewriting the lyrics to Tony Christie’s mammoth hit (Is This the Way to) Amarillo, he coined a new track aptly titled (Is This the Way to) Barnard Castle.

The senior aide faced public scrutiny after it emerged he drove 260 miles to Durham during the height of lockdown with his wife Mary – who had coronavirus symptoms – and young child to stay on his parents’ farm.

In an hour-long press conference, held in the rose garden of No10 on Monday, Mr Cummings discussed his trip up North, and revealed he drove 30miles to beauty spot Barnard Castle to “test his eyesight” after the coronavirus symptoms left him with dodgy vision.

The 46-year-old waded into the backlash by sharing his pearls of wisdom – and showing off his vocal range – to the nation.

He slammed Mr Cummings’ explanation, calling it a “load of b******t.”

Filming himself walking down the street, Paddy sang: “Is this the way Barnard Castle? You see my vision’s a bit of a hassle.

“Is this the way Barnard Castle? Where sweet Mary waits for me.

“Sha la la la load of b******t. Sha la la lad load of b******t.

“Sha la la la load of b******t – it was Mary’s birthday treat!”

Paddy captioned the video: “I’ve finally lost it in lockdown!” adding the hashtag ‘Is this the way to Barnard Castle?’.”

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has faced pressure to sack Mr Cummings – and now 35 Tory MPs have called on Mr Cummings to resign.

Earlier this week, Junior minister Douglas Ross resigned after Mr Cummings’ defence of his trip Durham during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mr Ross, who remains Conservative MP for Moray, said “There are unanswered questions I couldn’t defend.”
