Peter Andre has revealed the sad moment he had to tell his children they couldn’t hug their mum Emily because she had contracted coronavirus.
Emily Andre, who has been working on the NHS frontline during the pandemic, tested positive for the disease and isolated on the upper levels of the family home.
The Mysterious Girl singer admitted his children, Amelia, six, and Theo, three, were left confused by Emily’s lack of contact and asked: “Why can’t I go to Mum?”
Writing in his New! magazine column, Pete explained: “It was a really scary time and also hard because I had six people in the house to look after.
“She self-isolated on the top floor, as did Junior, and we made out to the younger children that Ems was at work during the day.
“But eventually they spotted her from the garden!”
He continued: “It was so difficult when Theo and Mills were like: ‘Why can’t I go to Mum?'”
Meanwhile, his eldest son Junior, who recently celebrated his 15th birthday, also became unwell and had to self-isolate.
However, Pete believed he hadn’t had coronavirus because he had symptoms of a cold before developing a temperature.
Emily reportedly contracted the virus at the start of the outbreak – and after showing symptoms, she then took a test at her hospital in Surrey.
Peter previously spoke about Emily’s health woes to The Sun Online, and said she experienced a loss of taste and confessed he didn’t tell his children Emily had the virus over fears they could become infected.

“She said she thought she could have it as her symptoms were so unique,” he said.
“She lost all taste – now we know that’s one of the key symptoms – but they didn’t know that when Emily felt sick.”
He added: “She couldn’t taste or smell anything, imagine you’ve got a really bad flu, and she had aches and the sore throat.
“It was a really worrying time because obviously the kids were asking ‘where’s mummy,’ but I couldn’t tell them – I was too petrified of them getting it.”
