Celebrities have left their heartfelt tributes online after it was announced today that country music legend and the Gambler singer Kenny Rogers died at the age of 81.
Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan, singer Boy George and English actor Laurence Fox were amongst those who shared words online after the star’s death.
A representative of Kenny said today that the star “passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”
Sharing a photo of Kenny on Twitter, GMB star Piers wrote: “RIP Kenny Rogers, 81. What incredibly sad news. One of the all-time great country music stars and an utterly charming man.”
Meanwhile while sharing a link to Rogers’ song ‘Islands In the Stream’, Boy George said: “Thanks Kenny Rogers. R.I.P. I played this 45 in the chill out room at a rave called Pushca and George Michael was swinging to it. Fond memories!”

Lewis star Laurence Fox also wrote: “Sleep well, you brilliant man.”
The Golden Globes’ official Twitter account also left a tribute, with it reading: “Kenny Rogers, an icon of country music and a Golden Globe nominee, died Friday night, according to a statement posted by his family. He was 81. Rest in Peace.”
Meanwhile US singer Richard Marx exclaimed: “F**k. F**k. F**k. I’m so sad to see Kenny Rogers go. He did so much for me as a young songwriter and we stayed friends for over 30 years. I’ll really miss him. May he rest easy.”

Kenny was born in Texas on August 21, 1938. He had more than 70 hit singles across country and pop music charts.
Two of his albums, The Gambler and Kenny, are considered to be some of the most influential country albums of all time.
Rogers was also voted the ‘Favourite Singer of All Time’ in a 1986 USA Today and People Magazine poll.
Over his six-decade career, the star received hundreds of awards including AMAs, Grammys, ACMs, and CMAs, as well as a lifetime achievement award.
