Piers Morgan could end up replacing David Walliams as a Britain’s Got Talent judge in 2022, it’s been reported.
In reference to falling viewing figures, sources have said that the Good Morning Britain presenter would bring some “edge” back to the ITV reality show.
Piers, 55, first appeared on the BGT judging panel alongside Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden when the series first began back in 2007.
Little Britain star David, 49, joined BGT in 2012 and has recently signed a one year extension to his contract with ITV, taking him through to 2021.
A source said: “Britain’s Got Talent is one of the few Saturday night shows which continues to shine and stay relevant.

“But all shows need refreshing, and Piers will certainly do that. He has been approached by two senior execs and, for his part, has said he would do it if the terms are right.
“He will give the show back its edge and provide those brilliant water cooler moments. He will revitalise the series,” they added to The Sun.
Daily Star Online has contacted a representative for Britain’s Got Talent for comment.

Piers’ deal with Good Morning Britain expires next year and therefore he would be free to begin filming for the 2022 series.
Earlier this year ITV approached the outspoken TV host to stand in for head judge Simon, 61, who broke his back in California in the summer.
However, Piers refused to work alongside dad-of-one David and turned the work down, telling producers David was an “insufferable twerp”.

It’s also been alleged that David threatened to quit the reality series if Piers was brought onto the panel temporarily.
The pair’s feud is no secret as Piers has also called David “very, annoying” and accused him of “lacking a pair” in the past.
The news comes after it was reported that David had clashed with his fellow BGT judges, in particular Alesha Dixon.

According to Mail Online, the pair had a disagreement over his controversial series Little Britain.
During the last semi-final on Saturday on October 3, David made a dig at his fellow judges while they talked to hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.
Ant asked David: “You four judges have been distanced all the way through the semi-finals, that must make it really hard to gossip about acts in between the acts.”
David joked: “I’ve enjoyed it actually, a bit of separation.”
