Piers Morgan couldn’t resist a cheeky boast today after discovering he is able to play golf at his local golf course all through summer due to the fact Wimbledon 2020 has been cancelled.
Looking gleeful, Piers beamed on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain as he dropped the personal antidote during a segment about tennis ace Novak Djokovic contracting Covid-19.
Chatting about Wimbledon 2020 being canned, Piers said: “It’s worth reminding people that Wimbledon had had prior thought had taken out pandemic insurance and ended up with a cheque for £140 million.
“Obviously we will miss the tennis but they didn’t lose any money and that was smart of them.
“It’s good for me actually as I play golf there in Wimbledon and because it’s not on I can play golf.
“They don’t take over the lawns so it means as I play a few holes.”
Looking far from impressed, co-star Susanna Reid moaned: “Oh well as long as you are alright Piers.”

The comment was quickly picked up by Good Morning viewers who were divided by Piers’ bragging nature.
One viewer raged: “@GMB can you please shut him up.
“We’re facing a recession and that fool Piers is talking about his golf course and his holiday home. No compassion.”
A second added: “Morning Piers. It’s great having you on GMB.
“Pleased you’re going to relax a bit playing golf with your pals at Wimbledon. Keep going fella.”

But while Piers can’t wait to his the golf course he couldn’t hide his distain for Djokovic’s decision to push ahead with his tennis tournament in Belgrade causing the spread of coronavirus.
Hitting out, Piers vented: ‘He has caused a situation where his best friend’s wife who is pregnant now has the virus.
“It is ridiculous to put on this tournament and the partying he did in the middle of the pandemic.”
In a savage dig, Piers hinted he thinks that come the end of the week the tennis ace will no longer be in his position of ATP Player Council president.
Piers hit out: “I think he is in charge at the moment but tomorrow we will have to see.”
