Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan was forced to make a rare apology today after swearing live on national TV.
The outspoke star shocked co-host Charlotte Hawkins after her read out an explicit birthday card had received from footballer turned actor Vinnie Jones.
Beaming away, Piers, who turned 55 today, said: “I have had a great card from Vinnie Jones.
“It says ‘Happy Birthday you total legend’.
“Then in smaller writing it says ‘I meant total b***end’.”

Seeing the funny side, Piers added: “Thanks Vinnie, much appreciated.”
Opening her mouth in shock, Charlotte interrupted: “Can you say that? On television?”
Unfazed, Piers replied: “I don’t know, I just said it didn’t I.

“I think we are past normal rules on TV… seriously.”
Shifting uncomfortably in her seat, Charlotte continued: “No we apologise if… I apologise on Piers’ behalf… if you have been offended.”
Digging his heels in, Piers hit back: “Are we still getting offended by that kind of stuff?

“Haven’t we learned that we can have a laugh.”
Sticking to the broadcasting rules, Charlotte instead: “No, because this is how stuff breaks down.”
In a shock move to admit his mistake, Piers said: “I am sorry for anyone that was offended.
“I can’t even get a birthday card, or present or cake… surely I am allowed to have a laugh with my mate Vinnie?”
