Piers Morgan has jetted off on a holiday getaway to “lie in the sunshine” while taking a break from Good Morning Britain.
The 55-year-old controversial ITV presenter announced he was taking some time off from the popular morning programme last week.
Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard are taking the presenting reins while Piers and his co-host Susanna Reid enjoy an extended summer break.
Susanna and Piers will now not be back presenting GMB until September.
Piers shared a plane selfie this morning as he got ready to relax on his first trip abroad since the coronavirus lockdown.

He was seen wearing a face mask as he sat in his aeroplane cabin after filming his last GMB earlier this week.
Piers shared the snap with his 7.6m followers on Twitter, captioning the snap: “I’m a washed up, knackered, pathetic excuse for a celebrity – get me outta here. Bye Britain, it’s been… surreal.”

Piers didn’t say where he was going on his holiday, but he could be going to Los Angeles where the journalist owns a luxury holiday home.
Wednesday was Piers and Susanna’s last day before their summer break.
Piers shared a tweet ahead of his last show, writing: “It’s our last day on air tomorrow until September and we intend to make it a Fiery one.

“So if you love us, loathe us, or just want to throw your remote at the TV, tune into GMB from 6am. I’ll be shouting. @susannareid100 will be pouting, and we’ll both be clouting.”
Kate and Ben will replace them during the week, with Garraway making her return to work after taking time off when her husband Derek Draper was critically ill with coronavirus.
Derek Draper remains in hospital after waking up from his coma, battling the aftermath of Covid-19.
