Piers Morgan is known for being highly critical of Meghan Markle, and will often share his no-holds-barred opinion about the former senior royal on both Twitter and Good Morning Britain.
But Piers took a U-turn this evening, as he showered Meghan, 38, in praise, following her comments about George Floyd’s death.
Piers, 55, shared a link on his Twitter page to his latest Daily Mail column for his 7.5million followers.
The column is headlined: “You’re not fit to light Churchill’s cigar, Mr President so listen to Meghan Markle and stop dividing and start uniting a country crying out in pain.”
In the piece, Piers says: “It comes to something when it falls to Meghan Markle to give the President a lesson in how to show leadership at a time like this.
“I’ve not been the Duchess of Sussex’s biggest fan, to put it mildly, but I actually thought she hit the perfect tone in her comments about George Floyd today, telling students in a video message about her own painful memories of witnessing the 1992 riots in Los Angeles after the brutal beating of Rodney King, and quoting her old teacher Ms Pollia who would tell her: ‘Always remember to put others’ needs above your own fears’.
“Meghan said: ‘You’re going to have empathy for those who don’t see the world through the same lens that you do.’
“There, right there, is what President Trump desperately needs to understand.
“The American people are hurting.
“They’re hurting very badly.”
Twitter users couldn’t believe their eyes to see Piers being nice about Meghan.
Taking to the comments section, on social networker wrote: “It’s difficult to keep up with who you hate or love every week.”
While another continued: “Piers agreeing with Meghan Markle? Now we are living in strange times!”
Piers also slams Trump’s response following the death of George Floyd, who died after a police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes despite Floyd saying he couldn’t breathe.
People have been protesting throughout the United States in the days following Floyd’s death.
Piers says: “What’s most disgusting is that the President of the United States has to be told to unify the country in its darkest hour.”
He adds: “I love America; I’ve lived and worked in the U.S. on and off for much of the past 15 years and it’s a magnificent country full of wonderful people.
“But right now, it’s suffering like I’ve never seen it before.”
