Piers Morgan hits out at GMB replacement Sean Fletcher after weight jibe

Piers Morgan became embroiled in a playful Twitter spat with his Good Morning Britain replacement Sean Fletcher after he made a joke about his weight.

The acid-tongued presenter is currently on his summer holidays, and jetted to Saint Tropez with his family, with his GMB slot covered by a number of presenters.

The duo have been mocking each other on the social media site with Sean joking that he wore one of Piers’ ties and it was too big for him.

Sean stepped into Piers’ shoes for the first time on Friday alongside co-host Charlotte Hawkins – and shared a picture of them both in the studio on Twitter.

“Really enjoyed working with Charlotte Hawkins and Alex Beresford on GMB this week.

“FYI my red tie is from Piers Morgan’s wardrobe, so it normally fits around a slightly larger neck – that’s why it kept loosening.”

And his remarks triggered Piers to clap back about the show’s audience figures while he’s been away.

The father-of-four wrote: “Shame you can’t borrow my much larger ratings too.”

Sean, in a jovial mood, replied: “21.3% for me and Charlotte Hawkins on Thursday’s GMB, Piers Morgan. Not a bad share with no promo/social media campaign.”

Piers is making his long-awaited return to the morning show after he made a speedy return to the UK from St Tropez, following the government’s announcement that France would be taken off the quarantine-free travel list.

The TV presenter flew black with his sons Spencer, 27, and Bertie, 19, ahead of the rule change.

Those returning to the UK after the early morning cut off, will have to quarantine for two weeks, as France, along with a number of other European countries, were removed from the safe list.

He posted a snap of himself, alongside his sons, after they touched down, writing: “Quarantine dodgers.”
